Baptism Scuba Diving in Menorca
Menorca is an island that thanks to the presence of posidonia has a spectacular visibility in the water. For this reason Menorca is a very good place to do a diving baptism in a calm and quiet environment.
Whether you have previous experience in the sea or you are a novice, the diving baptism is an activity that you will probably enjoy. Unless you are a bit claustrophobic or overwhelmed by being underwater, try scuba diving is something I recommend almost everyone to try.
I personally took the PADI Open Water Diver Certificate in Menorca and I loved it, especially because the water clarity is very high and gives you a lot of visibility and peace of mind.
What is a Discover Scuba Diving?
A Try Dive is an activity where you can try the experience of scuba diving in a controlled and fairly safe environment accompanied by a dive instructor.
There are two types of diving baptisms:
Pool Diving Baptism: You put on all the diving equipment (wetsuit, BCD, weights, tank, fins, goggles, etc.) and try the diving experience in a pool with an instructor. It is common in some hotels and is usually aimed at people who have very little experience in the sea and want to try it in a very well controlled environment.
Open Water Diving Baptism: You put on all the diving equipment and try the diving experience, with an instructor. It is usually started from the beach although sometimes you can start from a boat.
What equipment do I need for a scuba diving baptism?
You don’t need anything to do a diving baptism, as the centre where you do it will rent you all the equipment.
What I recommend you bring are your goggles and snorkel (in case you have one), in case you feel like sharing goggles and snorkel with other people.
